Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) General Secretary Ranjith Madduma Bandara told The Morning today (11) that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) seeks to show the public that they can handle the prevailing Covid-19 situation by themselves, even though they have failed to do so.
He revealed to The Morning that despite a request sent to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa by the SJB in April of 2020 requesting for an all party conference to discuss how the country should face the Covid-19 situation, this has not taken place as of yet.
When asked if there is potential for such a meeting to occur in the near future, Bandara expressed that this is unlikely.
“Yesterday Namal Rajapaksa said that there is no time for meetings,” he added.
He also mentioned that in times such as this, it is important for all parties to get together and come up with an effective solution.
