State Minister of Money and Capital Market and State Enterprise Reforms Ajith Nivard Cabraal has stated that Sri Lanka’s foreign reserves are being invested in the United States of America.
He was responding to a question raised by a journalist at a press conference yesterday (30) on the topic of Sri Lanka reaching an agreement to obtain funds from Bangladesh.
In response to this, the State Minister explained that all countries are now investing their reserves in other countries.
“The biggest investments are being made in America. Bangladeshi and Sri Lankan funds are also being invested there,” he said.
However, he noted that this does not indicate that America is a weak country in comparison to Sri Lanka or vice versa.
“There is no problem with Bangladesh investing in Sri Lanka, when Sri Lanka invests in America too,” he stated.
