SLTB to procure 500 new buses, Police to procure 750 jeeps

The Sri Lanka Transport Board is to procure 500 new 32 seat capacity buses under an Indian loan grant scheme. Accordingly, Cabinet has granted approval for the same and bids have been called from 03 institutions that accomplished pre-requisites for the purchase of buses. Following evaluations of those bids, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal submitted by the Minister of Transport to purchase these buses from the Ashok Leyland Company of India as per the recommendation furnished by the standing procurement committee appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Police is to procure 750 jeeps, inclusive of 150 jeeps for the Police Special Task Force under the Indian Line of Credit.  Accordingly, bids have been invited from companies recommended by the Indian Export and Import Bank and the Cabinet of Ministers granted approval to the resolution furnished by the Minister of Public Security for awarding the above procurement to the Mahindra Company of India subject to the recommendation of the standing procurement committee appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers.
