Special High Court issued an arrest warrant today against the former Central Bank, Governor, Arjuna Mahendran to be arrested and produced before court.
The Attorney General’s Department stated that the charges against the defendants were presented under the Public Property Act for conspiring to commit criminal misappropriation in respect of Treasury Bonds to the face value of Rs 10.058 billion through the Treasury Bond auction on 27th Feb 2015.
Earlier the CID had levelled charges against him which led to an INTERPOL arrest warrant. Subsequently the INTERPOL issued a red notice as the accused had been absconding arrest in Sigapore.
CID told media yesterday that the INTERPOL rejected an appeal filed by Mahendran against his warrant accusing the CID of filing false charges against him.
