Special parliamentary discussion on April 05

The Committee on Parliamentary Business which met yesterday (25) under the chairmanship of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena decided to convene Parliament for five days from the 5th to the 9th of April. According to the decision, Parliament will convene on April 05 as a special day and it will be held from 10.00 am to 4.30 pm. The Leader of the House and Minister Dinesh Gunawardena stated in Parliament today (26) that 50 Members of Parliament will be given the opportunity to ask oral questions on that day. He also said that the Committee on Parliamentary Business had decided to hold the Adjournment Debate on the Report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into Easter attacks on the 5th and on the 7th of April. In addition, the Committee has decided to debate the final report of the Presidential Commission to Investigate and Receive Information on Political Retaliation in Parliament on April 08 and 09. The House has been adjourned till April 05 to answer the adjourned Oral Questions and other Oral Questions to be asked by the MPs from 10 am to 4.30 pm. The Secretary General of Parliament, Dhammika Dasanayake, said that it was decided to submit a proposal to appoint a Parliamentary Select Committee to make recommendations to amend the electoral system on that day.
