Special precautions for Police officers

Polices officers were instructed to follow special safety precautions while on duty in public places, The Morning learnt. The Police Media Division (PMD) told The Morning that all police officers, islandwide, have been instructed to follow special safety precautions while on duty, especially when on duty in public places. They are required to wear safety equipment including masks and have been especially instructed to not have any physical contact with other police officers or the public when checking identity cards, vehicle insurance documents, etc.; they have been instructed to check these documents without touching it as far as possible. If police officers feel they have been infected with the coronavirus, they are required to inform the authorities and self-quarantine immediately. Furthermore, many police officers have been given masks, safety equipment, and sanitiser for their protection, and in certain areas, some of these were donated to them, said the PMD. – Agra Ranasinghe
