Special programme for Covid-19-positive Grade 5 Scholarship Exam students

By Buddhika Samaraweera The Examinations Department has prepared a special programme for the Covid-19-infected and quarantined students who will be sitting for the Grade Five Scholarship Examination to be held tomorrow (22). Speaking at a media briefing held yesterday (20), Examinations Commissioner (Administration) Amith Jayasundara said that a separate examination centre has been set up at the zonal education level for Covid-19-infected students to sit for the examination.  “If a student is currently infected with Covid-19 and detected to be infected before the examination, a special examination centre has been set up at the zonal education level for them to sit for the examination. There are 108 such centres islandwide. Parents should take their children to those centres,” he said.  He further stated that information regarding the relevant special examination centres can be obtained from the principal of each school. He also added that any Covid-19-infected student could sit for the examination at any such centre islandwide. Jayasundara also said that a special room has been set aside at the relevant centres in schools islandwide for students who are currently quarantined and have Covid-19 symptoms to sit for the examination. The Examinations Department has made arrangements to hold the Grade Five Scholarship Examination for 2021, tomorrow. A total of 340,508 candidates are scheduled to sit for the examination, which will be held at 2,943 examination centres islandwide.
