Sri Lanka on alert as possible cyclone risk

The public has been cautioned as a cyclone develops just off the coast of Sri Lanka. Fishermen have been advised by the Disaster Management Center (DMC) to refrain from heading out to sea to engage in fishing activities in the eastern seas and between Hambantota and Jaffna. Meanwhile, the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) has alerted the public of possible landslides in the hill-country. The Department of Meteorology has said that the cyclone that is developing as a result of a deep depression located Southeast of the Bay of Bengal has a high possibility of affecting Sri Lanka in days to come.
