SL to host 16th UNESCO Inter-State Committee on Intangible Cultural Heritages

The Cabinet of Ministers today (15) stated that approval has been provided for Sri Lanka to host the 16th session of the UNESCO Inter-State Committee on Intangible Cultural Heritages. Accordingly, the conference is scheduled to be held in Colombo from the 13th to 18th December 2021. "It is expected that a diplomatic group of thirty individuals from the UNESCO Secretariat will accompany the Director General of UNESCO while representatives of 195 member states and diplomatic missions will be present comprised of approximately 1,000 overseas representations," the government said today. Accordingly, the Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to the resolution furnished by the Minister of Education Prof G L Pieris for performing further actions as per the work plan prepared to host this conference.
