State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Prof. Channa Jayasumana stated that according to the Chinese Ambassador, China will fully sponsor Sinovac vaccine production in Sri Lanka.
Accordingly, he mentioned that the manufacture of Sinovac vaccines will take place in the next two months as a joint venture between Sri Lanka and China, and that a factory is to be set up in Kundasale to manufacture these vaccines.
The State Minister made these statements at today’s (26) reception of another 500,000 doses of Sinopharm vaccines donated by the Chinese government.
He also added that the Chinese Ambassador will make another special announcement today, saying that they will supply 2 million doses of the Sinopharm vaccine to Sri Lanka within the next month.
The State Minister also stated that Sri Lanka is to receive more Sputnik doses as well.
