  • Schedules ‘Invest Sri Lanka Forum’ on 5 Nov. in Dubai
With the aim of attracting investor interest, encompassing Sri Lankans who are living in Dubai, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) and the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) in association with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi and Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai and Northern Emirates of the UAE are set to conduct the “Invest Sri Lanka Forum” on 5 November 2021 at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, Dubai. These series of forums were organised in order to promote foreign investment in the Sri Lankan stock market and to showcase investment opportunities in leading Sri Lankan listed companies while providing a comprehensive showcase for investment opportunities in the Sri Lankan capital market via the CSE. SEC stated that upon the post-Covid imperative of accelerated economic revival, Sri Lanka remains focused and committed to stabilising and re-orienting the economy, and to ensure that our nation is on a path towards meaningful and sustainable growth. “In terms of the stock market, the CSE trades at a discount compared to most frontier markets and is supported by a promising growth potential among listed corporates. The All Share Price Index (ASPI) in 2021 has performed strongly, recording the highest year-to-date (YTD) and yearly index growth among the Asia-Pacific regional peers. Sri Lanka is committed to forging ahead with our reform agenda and our bid to develop into a strong, stable, and resilient economy, and an attractive place to do business.” Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal is expected to be the keynote speaker at the forum while a Sri Lankan delegation, including the chairmen of the SEC and the CSE, senior representatives of the SEC and the CSE, and stock broker firms will be present. The forums have also been conducted in key foreign markets including the UK, the US, Australia, New Zealand, the UAE, India, Switzerland, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
