A Sri Lankan residing in Switzerland has died of the coronavirus, the Foreign Ministry reported today.
The deceased has been identified as a 59-year-old male from Punkuduthivu in Northern Province and held residence permit in Switzerland.
The patient is the first Sri Lankan to die from the coronavirus.
The number of coronavirus cases in Switzerland has risen to almost 10,000, with 103 confirmed deaths.
