Sri lankans arriving from virus hit countries cannot refuse to be quarantined - Health Minister

11 Mar 2020

Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi today (11) said that Sri lankans arriving from coronavirus hit countries will be subject to mandatory quarantine procedure and will not be exempted for any reason. The Health Minister made this statement after many Sri Lankans who had arrived from South Korea and Italy had refused, at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), to be sent to quarantine centres in the country. Wanniarachchi said that no one can refuse the government's procedure and that it was done to protect all citizens of the country. The Health Minister further requested the general public to support the health authorities in taking preventive measures.
