o Covid-19 Task Force looking at additional safety measures o Alternative quarantine facilities being looked at By Skandha Gunasekara Despite a high number of repatriated Sri Lankans testing positive for Covid-19, the Government is adamant on not stopping the repatriation process even with the dwindling quarantine facilities available at the moment. Co-Cabinet Spokesman and Minister of Plantation Industries and Export Agriculture Dr. Ramesh Pathirana said there would be no curtailment in bringing down expatriates. “We will continue the process and won’t be stopping or curtailing, as these are Sri Lankan citizens,” he said. However, he said that the Covid-19 Task Force was contemplating extra measures, particularly with regard to quarantine facilities. “There is a scarcity in our capacity to quarantine more (Covid-19-)positive patients, but the Task Force is already addressing the matter and we expect a solution in the coming days,” Dr. Pathirana said. He went on to say that two additional hospitals were prepped and ready to handle more Covid-19 patients. “The Teldendiya Hospital and the Hambantota Hospital have been prepared and we expect to use those for new Covid-19 patients,” he said.
