SriLankan Airlines to introduce Air Marshals to flights

In light of the recent incidents of terror in Sri Lanka, SriLankan Airlines have considered the introduction of Air Marshals on board some flights.

CEO of SriLankan Airlines, Vipula Gunatilleka told Euronews that whilst ground security has been taken over by the national Airforce, the State-owned carrier was considering the option of bringing Air Marshals on board some flights.

Sri Lanka, an island nation with a key emphasis on tourism, a drop in visitor numbers is inevitable Gunatilleka told the foreign news wire.

He further added that despite the current situation, day-to-day operations at the company couldn’t be ignored, emphasizing that the strategy to turn the loss-making airline into a profitable one was still in place.
