It was also proposed to take steps to appoint advisors for career guidance in the universities and to adjust the number of posts approved for the same. The officials also agreed to hold discussions with the Treasury and make arrangements to provide special funds for the upliftment of the existing dental and veterinary hospitals at the University of Peradeniya. The issues and challenges faced by the deans in academic and administrative matters were also discussed and the Minister pointed out the long-term and short-term solutions that could be provided in this regard. The Minister also instructed the officials to look into the future implementation of external degree courses and how to plan future measures to safeguard their quality.
