Steps being taken to transfer 30 prisoners to Boossa Prison

Prisons Commissioner (Administration and Rehabilitation) Prisons Spokesman Chandana Ekanayake said that steps have been taken to transfer 30 inmates to the 30 newly constructed cells in the Boossa Prison, a high security prison run by the Prisons Department. Boossa Prison currently holds a total of 76 prisoners who require special security. Forty six inmates are being held in the first phase under the High Security Zone established here. He further said that 30 prisoners specially identified as drug traffickers and members of criminal gangs are to be held in the recently constructed prisons. He said the transfer was under the control of the Special Task Force and was equipped with an active telephone system and a CCTV camera system 24 hours a day
