Six students arrested over the Sri Jayawardenepura University ragging incident have been remanded until 23 March. The students were arrested and detained yesterday as part of an on-going Police investigations into the incident that left a 20-year-old student in critical condition. The first-year student involved in the incident is receiving treatment at the Accident Ward Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Colombo National Hospital. The elder brother of the student claimed that his brother had succumb to head injuries when senior students at the university had pushed a tractor tire onto his brother. However, the Student Union of Sri Jayawardenepura University said the case was not related to ragging and that it was an accident that had taken place during a university get together.
