Sujeewa Rajapakse has been appointed Chairman of People's Bank. Rajapakse is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) with more than 30 years of experience. He is a past President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) and is the Managing Partner of BDO Partners Sri Lanka, an international accounting network. He holds an MBA from the Post Graduate Institute of Sri Jayewardenepura. He was a member of the Monetary Policy Consultative Committee of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka [CBSL] and a board member of NDB for four years and was the Chairman of NDB Capital Holdings Limited Bangladesh during Mahinda Rajapaksa's administration. Currently, he is serving as an independent Non-Executive Director of three listed companies including Dipped Products PLC and Haycarb PLC. He is also the Deputy Chairman of Softlogic Life PLC. His experience in the financial and non financial sector is more than two decades. He was a Board member of the South Asia Federation of Accountants (SAFA) and is the Technical Advisor to Confederation of Asia Pacific Accountants (CAPA). He was a Board member of the Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standard Monitoring Board for a few years. Sujeewa has served many Government institutes including University of Sri Jayawardenapura as a Council Member, Sri Lanka Pay Commission as a member and the National Institute of Business Management(NIBM) as a board member. He was a Commission member of the Securities and Exchange Commission. Apart from his responsibilities in the corporate and state sector, he was serving as the treasurer of Sri Lanka Cricket for more than six years. The International Cricket Council(ICC) recognized his commitment for cricket and appointed him as the treasurer for the Cricket World Cup 2011 which was played in Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh. Sujeewa has been an Executive Committee Member of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce(CCC) for many years and also an active member of Sri Lanka institute of directors(SLID). He takes an active role in the famous 'Ath Paura Social Entrepreneur Programme'. Sujeewa is a proud product of Richmond College, Galle.
