Wanniarachchi previously held the health portfolio and was appointed to the transport portfolio by the President last Monday (16).
The recent cabinet reshuffle came as a surprise to Wanniarachchi, who believed that the reshuffle would take place after the 2022 Budget presentation in a few months.
Wanniarachchi was at a meeting with health officials at the Health Ministry on Monday morning when she received a message asking her to immediately come to the Presidential Secretariat.
