The recent controversy over members of the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) getting the second dose of the Covishield AstraZeneca vaccine for family and friends while over 600,000 persons, mostly over the age of 60, languished without any knowledge of when they would receive the second dose of their vaccines, has revealed another interesting aspect.
Apart from family members of GMOA members, some of their friends had also been included in the lists of persons to receive priority status in getting the vaccine administered. Interestingly, some of these friends had been included in priority lists as parents, spouses, and siblings of GMOA members.
This situation had inadvertently resulted in some doctors listing several parents, spouses, and siblings in addition to those officially listed.
