The cold war that has been brewing between Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa and Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Patali Champika Ranawaka has taken a new twist.
The SJB had launched a new movement called the “Samagi Vihidum Balaganaya”under the patronage of the Opposition Leader. The movement is being co-ordinated by MPs Hesha Vithanage and Chaminda Wijesiri.
The inaugural meeting held last week was attended by Premadasa and MPs Lakshman Kiriella and Buddhika Pathirana, among others.
However, Ranawaka was a notable absentee at the event.
A majority of SJB MPs had objected to Ranawaka’s movement – 43rd Brigade. They claimed that the SJB needed to form a similar movement. It is believed that the “Samagi Vihidum Balaganaya” would be developed as an alternative to the 43rd Brigade.Sunny Side Up: Cold war
