A dinner that was organised last Thursday (5) by Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila for the governing Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) parliamentary group had to be cancelled after Gammanpila was placed under self-quarantine after several of his ministry officials tested positive for Covid-19.
The dinner was organised by Gammanpila, as an expression of gratitude to the governing party members who had supported him to defeat the No-faith Motion that was presented against him by the Opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB).
The dinner was to be held at the Grand Monarch in Thalawathugoda.
The Ministry of Energy was closed for several days last week after several officials tested positive for Covid-19 and was re-opened on Friday (6).
