A sudden interruption in the power supply had nearly prevented Minister of Mass Media Dullas Alahapperuma from participating in an online meeting scheduled by the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) for its district leaders.
Since the power outage had taken place a few minutes prior to the commencement of the meeting, Alahapperuma was about to inform the organisers of his inability to attend the meeting when the power supply was reconnected.
Logging in late for the meeting, Alahapperuma had excused himself and explained that his delay was due to a sudden power outage.
Hearing Alahapperuma’s explanation, Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage had said: “Wow, no power for the Power Minister.”
