Local government representatives of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) have reportedly requested Party Leader former President Maithripala Sirisena to contest as the SLFP’s candidate at the presidential election in 2024.
SLFP Central Committee member Thisara Gunasinghe had told the media that a written request was handed over to Sirisena at the Galle District SLFP meeting held on 29 July.
According to him, the request was made by SLFP Pradeshiya Sabha members in the area as well as electoral organisers.
