Former Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera might have a bright future in acting[/caption]
Former Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera after launching his True Patriot Radical Centre has now entered into acting by making his acting debut in a YouTube political satire comedy drama produced by Wasthi Productions – Light Upali. The production was released on Wednesday (19).
In the video, the former Minister performs the role of King Mangala (Maharaja Mangala), defender of TikTok – the social media app.
In the video, the rulers are seen imposing a ban on social media, including TikTok, and King Mangala demands that the public be given access to TikTok again, or face the wrath of a war.
In a social media post, Wasthi Productions has stated that it was former MP Ranjan Ramanayake who was initially looked at to play the role, but due to his incarceration, the producers were faced with a great problem in finding a suitable replacement.
According to the production house, when the producers had thought of Samaraweera for the role and approached him, the former minister had not agreed to it at first. Samaraweera, it is learnt, had requested details of the role he would have to play, and to read the script. He had agreed to do the part afterwards.
Samaraweera withdrew from politics after he announced his withdrawal from contesting at the general election last year.
