While many protests by the farmers saw the burning of effigies depicting the Minister of Agriculture and the President, several protests held last week received much attention on social media due to their uniqueness.
A protest carried out in the Godagama paddy fields in the Ibbagamuwa area saw pictures of Agriculture Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage’s face being fixed on the heads of the buffaloes tilling the paddy lands.
In another protest held in the Rambewa area, a person wearing a mask depicting Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa while adorning the kurahan sataka (shawl) arrived at the paddy field in a luxury vehicle.
