Rumour mills are at work overtime these days over moves amongst Opposition political parties to form a new political front targeting future elections.
The lead in the discussions to form a joint political platform has reportedly been taken by a governing party parliamentarian, who is currently disgruntled after being overlooked when appointing cabinet ministers, along with an Opposition politician who was a minister of the former Yahapalana Government and currently engaged in building a civil society platform.
According to reports, several leading Buddhist monks disgruntled with the incumbent Government have also expressed support to the endeavour. A majority of these monks had played a key role in bringing this Government to power.
However, political circles are abuzz with the formation of this joint political front, given the ongoing chaos in the main Opposition party.
