Anusha Palpita assuming duties as DLB Chair[/caption]
New Development Lotteries Board (DLB) Chairman Anusha Palpita was earlier expected to receive a posting in a Sri Lankan mission overseas.
After resigning from the post of Secretary to the Ministry of Industries, Palpita was informed by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa that he would be appointed as the DLB Chairman.
The DLB is one of the main financial contributors of the President’s Fund and there had reportedly been a decline in the contributions from the DLB.
The Prime Minister had requested Palpita to take over the main post at DLB and address the immediate issues faced by the institution.
The President had also asked Palpita to take over the position at the DLB, it is learnt.
However, Palpita had requested for a posting in a Sri Lankan mission overseas even for a short period.
Nevertheless, the President and Prime Minister had asked Palpita to first take charge of the DLB and Palpita had then agreed.
Last week, Palpita assumed duties as DLB Chairman.
