The post of Co-ordinating Officer and Media Spokesperson to the Attorney General is to be done away with once Attorney General Dappula de Livera retires from service.
Additional Solicitor General Sanjaya Rajarathnam, who is tipped to assume the office of Attorney General after de Livera’s retirement, has not expressed any desire to retain an individual for the post of Co-ordinating Officer and Media Spokesperson.
It was de Livera who created the post of Media Spokesperson to the Attorney General for the first time in the history of the Attorney General’s Department. Attorney Nishara Jayaratne was appointed as the Co-ordinating Officer and Media Spokesperson to de Livera.
