President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the last Cabinet meeting advised ministers to adhere to the collective responsibility of Cabinet Ministers and to refrain from making various public statements critical of the Government.
President Rajapaksa, it is learnt, had looked at Minister Harin Fernando when making this statement, making other Cabinet Ministers believe that the President’s comments were aimed at Fernando.
Minister Prasanna Ranatunga had also endorsed the President’s comments, saying that such public statements made by several former Cabinet Ministers were the reason for the public dissension that continued to grow against the former Government.
