A recent statement by a senior government minister that the Government would take steps to sell a plot of land in Colombo to make due payments, had resulted in civil society questioning whether it was the Government’s policy.
Agriculture Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage recently stated that steps would somehow be taken to make Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) payments to estate sector workers, even by selling a plot of land in Colombo.
