Former Minister Rohitha Abeygunawardena has warned that 10 other individuals would rise as replacements even if one of them (senior Government ministers facing public opposition) were to be killed.
Abeygunawardena had made this statement in Parliament last Tuesday (5) on public protests being carried outside residences of Government members. He had further noted that the ongoing protests would now create a precedent where, in future, the public would rise in protest against any government and its members.
“Someday the public will take to the streets asking the leaders of the time to go home. What is happening today could happen to any other person in the future when in power,” he had warned.
