The tourism project with Ukraine was criticised by many who claimed it had resulted in a surge in Covid-19 cases in Sri Lanka.
However, speaking during an online interview, Weeratunge claimed that the tourism project with Ukraine did not bring Covid-19 to the country, as it was carried out under the bio-bubble concept.
