The Colombo District Secretariat is conducting a month-long survey to ascertain the number of children of schooling age who are failing to attend school.
Colombo District Secretary Pradeep Yasaratne told The Morning that the objective was to ensure all children were attending schools.
“We started the survey last week. This survey is being conducted so that we can determine how many schoolgoing children are not attending school in the Colombo District.”
He said once the survey is completed, steps will be taken to send these students to the relevant schools.
“We will gather all the information about these children such as their ages and where they reside, and then ensure they are enrolled in schools as soon as possible.”Survey on children not schooling
