Susantha Ratnayake resigns as BOI Chairman

[caption id="attachment_62620" align="alignleft" width="300"] Susantha Ratnayake[/caption] Susantha Ratnayake resigned as Chairman of the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI) today (30), The Morning learns. “I resigned with effect from today. I took up this position based on the understanding that I would hold it for only one year. Therefore I have conveyed to His Excellency President Gotabaya Rajapaksa that the period is up and therefore I need to take some time off,” he said, speaking to The Sunday Morning Business today. Ratnayake was appointed as BOI Chairman in mid-December 2019 with over 30 years of management experience behind him. Most notably, he had served as the Chairman and CEO of John Keells Holdings PLC from January 2006 to December 2018 and served on the JKH board since 1992/93. Prior to his stint with the BOI, Ratnayake served as Chairman of Sri Lanka’s premier business chamber the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, the Employers Federation of Ceylon and the Sri Lanka Tea Board.
