A suspect has been arrested in the Mirihana area for committing various fraudulent acts while posing as a Buddhist monk.
Police Media Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana stated that the suspect was arrested in a raid carried out on information received by the Mirihana Police.
He further added that the suspect had fraudulently obtained financial assistance by going to Pindapatha in the name of a monk.
The arrested person is a 33 year old man.
He is due to be produced before the Gangodawila Magistrate's Court today (01) and the Mirihana Police has commenced a special investigation into the incident, the police spokesman said.
