A youth has been arrested on charges of keeping photographs related to the LTTE in his mobile phone and trying to incite youths to commit crimes, Police Spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said.
The suspect was arrested in a raid carried out by a team of officers on a tip off received by the STF intelligence unit at Kilinochchi.
Investigations have revealed that the arrested suspect had hidden an iron sword with the intention of committing a crime and had tried to incite youths in the area to commit crimes.
The arrested youth is 21 year old Nagarasa Prabha, a resident of Kilinochchi.
The suspect was found in possession of an iron sword made of bicycle tube straps with a blade that was 27½ inches long, 1 1/4 inches wide, and a wooden handle 6 inches long.
Meanwhile, the STF said that there were two mobile phones with SIM cards.
