A 38-year-old resident of Iqbal Road, Muttur was arrested by the Terrorism Investigation Division yesterday (13) on charges of organizing classes related to extremism.
It was revealed that the extremist classes were organized with the connivance of Zaharan Hashim, who is believed to be the main killer of the Easter attack.
The person in question had organized the classes in Muttur.
It has been revealed that the students who have completed the GCE Ordinary Level and Advanced Level examinations have been admitted to participate in the examination, said the Police Media Spokesman, DIG Ajith Rohana.
It was also revealed that classes related to this extremism had been organized in late 2018 before the Easter attacks in April 2019.
Meanwhile, two residents of Gampola and Kattankudi who are currently in jail for further questioning on extremist activities have also been taken into custody by the Terrorism Investigation Division.
