Police have arrested a man in possession of heroin stashed in a car yesterday (23) claiming that he was transporting medicinal drugs to a patient.
The suspect was arrested at the Ingiriya Ketakadella police roadblock, police spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.
The suspect is a 34 year old resident of Horana.
The suspect had told the police that he was traveling from Horana to Kiriella with the necessary drugs after the vehicle was stopped at the roadblock.
Police said a search of the car revealed five grams of heroin and 200 milligrams of ice.
It has been revealed that the suspect had transported the drugs to a heroin dealer in the Kiriella area in Ratnapura.
