A murder suspect has died in a shootout with the police in Monaragala today(5).
The incident had occurred when the Police had tried to arrest the suspect over a murder case investigation.
According to the Police, the suspect had fired shots at the Police and in defence the police had shot back.
The incident had taken place at 12.50 pm today, the Police said.
The shooting incident left the suspect wounded and was rushed to the Sirigala Moneragala Hospital.
The suspect who succumbed to injuries passed away while receiving treatment at the hospital.
The suspect is a 30 year old resident of Ittakatuwa, thenagalanda, Moneragala.
The individual is identified as a suspect who was wanted in a case relating to a shooting incident that left one dead in Thenagalawa, Marawa, Moneragala on 31st May.
