Police Spokesman Ajith Rohana stated that a person involved in several robberies in the Veyangoda area has died during a special operation carried out by the police.
The suspect has been arrested by the Peliyagoda Western Province North Crimes Division for attempting to murder a man by cutting off his limbs in the Maligathenna area in Veyangoda on the 19th.
"He is also suspected of being involved in several robberies. A group of officers from the Peliyagoda Crimes Division had gone to the Halgampitiya area in the Veyangoda Police Division this morning for an operation to arrest the suspect. It was reported that the suspect had died while being admitted to hospital," DIG Ajith Rohana said.
