A person was arrested by the Katunayake Police yesterday (26) for possessing counterfeit 1000 rupee notes.
Police said that six counterfeit 1000 rupee notes were found in the suspect's possession.
He is a 35 year old resident of Sedawatte, Wellampitiya.
A printing machine used to print counterfeit currency notes was also found in his possession.
The owner of a shop in the Awariwatta area in Katunayake had informed the police about the suspicious note he had given him after purchasing goods.
