Two suspects had been arrested in Bloemendhal with seven Rs. 5,000 fake notes, stated Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana today.
He stated that they had visited a shop in Bloemendhal and the shopkeeper had alerted the police on the suspects and they had been arrested.
They were revealed to be residents of Wellampitiya and Colombo 15. They are to be produced before the Magistrate court today and further investigations would be carried out by the Criminal Investigation Department.
The Spokesman urged the public to be vigilant about fake currency notes during the festive season. He requested all persons to check their currency notes especially when exchanging and make sure that the watermark and the back line of the note is present.
