Swiss Embassy staffer remanded until 30 Dec

The Swiss Embassy staffer who was allegedly abducted has been remanded until 30 December. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested the Swiss Embassy staffer and produced her before court today (16) upon the instructions of the Attorney General. The Attorney General ordered the CID to name the Swiss Embassy staffer as a suspect for a case of exciting disaffection against the Government and fabricating false evidence to be used in a future judicial proceeding. The Swiss Embassy staffer had claimed she was abducted, harassed and questioned by an unidentified group on the 25 of November. Earlier today, the Swiss Embassy staffer was produced to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) in Angoda for a mental health examination. The report on her mental health condition will be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (17).
