The Ministry of Transport appointed Swiss manufacturer M/S Matisa Materiel Industriel S.A. Switzerland for the procurement of the manufacturing and delivering of a single-sleeper multiple tie tamping machine for the Department of Sri Lanka Railways.
Moreover, a cabinet decision was also issued for the aforementioned project on Monday (29), which highlighted the procurement of designing, manufacturing, supplying, installing, operating, and delivering a single-sleeper multiple tie tamping machine for the Department of Sri Lanka Railways.
In addition, it was also highlighted that the Cabinet approved Minister of Transport Gamini Lokuge’s proposal which involved awarding the relevant procurement to M/S Matisa Materiel Industriel S.A. Switzerland at an amount of $ 4.96 million.
Accordingly, the cabinet decision also stated that the call for bids was a measure taken in order to increase the volume of maintenance as well as minimise the maintenance expenses involved in the Sri Lanka Railways Department.
