Task Force meets to assess Covid-19 situation

    By Skandha Gunasekara    The Task Force on Covid-19 met yesterday (14) to assess the ongoing situation, The Morning learnt.  President’s Media Division (PMD) Director General Mohan Samaranayake told The Morning that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa presided over the meeting. “The meeting was called to evaluate the current rise in Covid-19 cases and the whole country’s situation as a whole. President Rajapaksa chaired the meeting.” He said that future meetings will also be held to take key decisions.  “As there were no serious issues until now with regard to Covid-19, the Committee did not meet until yesterday,” he said.  Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, Defence Secretary Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Kamal Gunaratne, and Ministry of Health Secretary Dr. Sanjeewa Munasinghe also participated in yesterday’s meeting.
