A technical fault may have caused the detachment of the Yal Devi coaches this week, the railway Department said.
A major disaster was averted when one set of the Yal Devi coaches detached from the other set when the train was moving at considerable speed with passengers.
On detecting that one set had detached, the train driver slowed down the train allowing the detached units to crash into the other unit.
No one was injured in the incident which was captured by a passenger on a mobile phone.
