Thousands stranded in Colombo awaiting clearance to travel out

By Agra Ranasinghe Around a thousand people are trapped in the Keselwatta area in Colombo while around 12,000 people are trapped in the entire city of Colombo, The Morning learnt. A senior police officer told The Morning that there a large number of around 40,000 people who have come to volunteer in various forms of employment, education, temporary business, and self-employment, including helpers, garment workers, and hired workers, are trapped in the entire Western Province. Accordingly, the Police Media Division said that they still have not been instructed to send these stranded individuals to their houses in other districts after testing or to self-quarantine. However, the Police have provided them essentials such as food and sanitary items.
