Three year jail sentence for former DIG

Former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Hector Dharmasiri has been sentenced to three years in jail effective from today (02).

The Bribery Commission filed a case against the former DIG in 2012 over allegations that he had allegedly used police officers on duty in the construction of his private residence in 2007.

Dharmasiri was found guilty of all charges and was given a three-year jail sentence by the Colombo Chief Magistrate today (02).
